Fresh Awakening
This area of Australia is very special, featuring wild kangaroos & parrots that are tame enough to feed and handle. There are also secluded beaches; some of sand, some of smooth colored rocks, and others of shells and coral. I photographed this scene over a few months, trying to balance the high tide (which was needed for the waterfalls) with a soft clouded sunrise. To be sure I had captured what I wanted, I returned to photograph the scene again. With perfect conditions, I set up with great anticipation, only to have a freak wave crash up and soaked all of my camera gear with hundreds of gallons of salt water!
