Walk About
The unbelievably red sand is almost orange. The sand's smoothness is the bed of small desert plants, their colors in contrast to the red. This scene shows Ayers Rock gradually rising in the distance with the silhouette of the Olgas on the right. Traveling around Ayers Rock is a wonderful experience. I could keep coming back again and again; I find that there is always something new to appreciate. I searched the sand dunes for a vantage point of Ayers Rock and the Olgas that also had the pure red sand and some interesting plants, and I found a spot. During my first attempt I realized a problem: my shadow. I continued to search and found another place but this time with a bush that I could hide my shadow behind. The next morning I arrived back in the dark, I started to look for my spot again, being very careful not to walk on any areas of open clear sand. The trouble was that I couldn't find my spot and as the sky was brightening, I became a little anxious and accidentally walked right through the middle of my scene. At first I was disappointed, but on second thought, I now had a good name: "Walk About".
